Steph Curry and the Warriors are back, and the NL West is already dominating again

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Let’s cut to the chase.

Hello everyone, but especially to…

WARRIORS OF THE GOLDEN STATE…

When Stephen Curry starts saying “I’m back” and shaking after you score, you know you’re in trouble. the Nuggets are in deep trouble, and every team with championship aspirations should take this into account: The Warriors also belong at the title level. Last night, Golden State demolished Denver, 126-106to take a 2-0 series lead.

The Warriors opened a close game with a 44-point third quarter in which they truly looked like a half-NBA, half-Harlem Globetrotters team with absurd 3-pointers, jaw-dropping passing and just general offensive genius. to accompany active, fiery defense.

During the Warriors’ peak, they released a “Line of Death” consisting of Curry, Thompson, Green, Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala. Now with Poole playing great basketball, they discover an equally frightening programming, writes our NBA reporter Colin Ward-Henninger.

  • Ward Henninger: “The full unit took the field with 6:02 remaining in the second quarter with Golden State trailing 43-35. By the time the halftime whistle sounded, the Warriors were leading, 57-51. The news death squad, which has yet to be given an appropriate nickname, started a 22-8 run in a half-quarter, and the way they did it should terrify not just the Nuggets, but all teams that will stand in their way in the upcoming knockout rounds.”

… AND ALSO HELLO TO THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

the 76ers took a 2-0 series lead raptors after a dominant 112-97 win last night.

Maxey was outstanding in both matches, and Embiid’s dominating performance will also be in the headlines. But another key is that Philly survives when Embiid is not on the field. During the regular season, the 76ers were outscored by 1.9 points per game when he was on the bench. So far in the playoffs, the 76ers are upgrade Toronto by 6.0 points per game when on the bench.

The Raptors’ best hope is to win the minutes Embiid is on the bench by a big margin. At the moment they are losing them by a large margin.

MLB Power Rankings: NL West is (still) in the lead ⚾

It’s early, but the NL West seems to be getting very competitive again. After battling to the wire for the division title last year, the Dodgers and giants are No. 1 and 2, respectively, in MLB expert Matt Snyder MLB Power Rankings.

  • 1. Dodgers– “They’re going to be spending a lot of time here. Unless the Giants do.”
  • 2. Giants —Carlos Rodon has 21 strikeouts in 12 innings. His living, talented arm in the hands of the Giants magicians is a chilling combo.”

Last year the Dodgers finished with 106 wins, good for the second-most in baseball. Unfortunately for them, it was also the second in their own division behind San Francisco’s 107. It looks more or less the same this season.

As for who’s next in the Power Rankings…

  • 3. Dish
  • 4. Blue jays
  • 5. White Sox

During this time, the angels are trying to prove the Dodgers and Giants aren’t the only top-flight clubs in Golden State, and they’re up to No. 9 after going 5-1 last week. You can see the full power ranking here.

Which college football coaches are under the most pressure? 🏈

CBS Sports Graphic

We’ve had a wild start to the college football offseason, and while things have calmed down for the most part, our excitement for the 2022 season has not. One of the reasons for this enthusiasm is the coaching movementwhich, to recap, included…

  • lincoln riley at USC
  • Brian Kelly at LSU
  • Mario Cristobal at Miami
  • Many others.

So, which coaches – new or old – are under the most pressure this season? Our Barrett Sallee identified his top sevenincluding Riley in his first year with the Trojans.

  • Room: “Many have tried, but few have succeeded in bringing USC back to the glory days of Pete Carroll in the 2000s. Riley stepped up after establishing Oklahoma as a national powerhouse, and hit the transfer portal in a big way by attracting multiple players – including the former Sooners starting quarterback Caleb Williams — in Los Angeles. His fast, spread-based, run-focused offense will be a big selling point with Southern California rookies, which means College football playoff appearances — yes, plural — are expected to arrive in the not-too-distant future.

Riley making an appearance in the college football playoffs this year is a daunting task. Two coaches — Riley in Oklahoma and Ryan Day at Ohio State — did CFP in their freshman year under a new coach, but both programs were strong when those coaches took over. The same cannot be said for USC. Riley has a lot of work to do and there will be plenty of eyes on him every step of the way.

  • Champions for Charity (2020): Woods and Peyton Manning won. Mickelson and Tom Brady
  • Champions of Change (2020): Mickelson and Charles Barkley won. Manning and Stephen Curry
  • The Match IV (2021): Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau defeat. Brady and Mickelson
  • Bryson vs. Brooks (2021): Brooks Koepka beats. DeChambeau
